Architecture inspired by nature

Fujimori Terunobu's architecture is neither modern nor classic; it has a unique taste you cannot quite place. What is it inspired from? How did it come to be?
To answer these questions, we need to make a brief visit to Suwa Grand Shrine. Fujimori lived very close to the sanctuary, which came to play a big part in his debut as an architect.
Once we get acquainted with Suwa animism, we will direct to another sacred place where the very first building designed by Fujimori stands waiting for us, the Jinchokan Moriya Historical Museum. Last but not least, we will climb up the teahouses which entered TIME's “Top 10 Precarious Buildings”, Takasugi-an (the too-high teahouse), and the Flying Mud Boat. The tour will close with a casual tea ceremony inside Hikusugi-an (the too-low teahouse).
